John McAfee: Bitcoin is not a bubble because it costs $1000 of electricity and hardware to produce 1 bitcoin.
Bitcoin now has a running Bitcoin blockchain node in space. This is interesting solution for processing offline transactions (when the Internet is down)! I have never heard about other ("pre-crypto") payment networks launching their own satellites (although they do use satellite network communication channels). Should every payment network and cryptocurrency launch its satellite, or maybe even a network of satellites like GPS to cover the entire Earth surface?
I am writing a #blockchain #whitepaper, I hope it will cause another spike :) Stay tuned.
Bitcoin and blockchain technology company Blockchain has raised $40 million in its second round of funding
This is the company behind online bitcoin wallet Blockchain.info. While providing convenience to average user, which may speed up the mainstream adoption, the concept of online bitcoin wallet contradicts the basic principle of crypto currency- decentralization. It's more suitable for old fashioned Paypal or egold than crypto. If the company is breached or bankrupt, you will lose your "independent" and "anonymous" coins.
South Korean web-hosting firm Nayana has agreed to pay a $1m ransom to unlock computers frozen by hackers
The ransomware - known as Erebus - targeted computers running Microsoft Windows and was also modified so a variant would work against Linux-based systems.
It appears that Nayana entered into negotiations with the hackers, lowering the fee from $4.4m to less than $500,000 although at the last minute, the hackers doubled the negotiated amount to $1m.
They are believed to have encrypted data on 153 Linux servers and 3,400 customer websites.
