PCI SSC just released the initial official information about PCI QIR program to the public.
This is training/certification program for payment software integrators and resellers, meaning – installers.
Online training will begin in summer 2012.
PCI Council will be maintaining the list of qualified merchants – probably, similar to PA-DSS validated applications list.
What is still unclear:
If payment application vendor installs its software by itself, is it still required to participate in QIR program if they already have other PCI certifications (such as PA-DSS, PCI DSS, P2PE)?
Is QIR program only intended for third party integrators and resellers, and payment application vendors are waived?
I sent all these questions to the Council and waiting for answers.
